Small Town Talk: Beach Trip

Brett and I got to go to the beach this past weekend which was a nice little break but it could have been a lot longer! This is my busy season and about now I get pretty tired, and I still have till November! We went to Klamath, CA which is below Cresent City and stayed at the historic ReQua Inn, which is now a Bed and Breakfast. Brett and I enjoy going to bed and breakfasts for a quiet, cosy atmosphere and interesting breakfasts. This Inn had a good breakfast but it wasn't very fancy. They had choices of pancakes, eggs, meat, hot cereal, toast, fruit, and yogurt. They also operate as a resturant for guests in the evening which we took advantage of because Klamath is not that big of town. The Inn was built in 1914 and was mainly used to house guests after they brought mule trains from the interior of California or people moving or visiting the coast. The building was neat and is now ran by a local native Yurok family.
Friday we arrived in Klamath, checked in, and just settled in for the evening. The weather was pretty foggy and cool so it was nice to snuggle up in the room. On Saturday we went to "Trees of Mystery" which is a private Redwoods park. They had a forest trail with all kinds of unusual Redwoods, a tram that took you to the tops of the trees and an overlook (although we could see nothing but clouds and only about 10 feet in front of our faces). They also had a trail that took you through the myths surrounding Paul Bunyon's life which was depicted by scenes cut in Redwood by a loggers chainsaw. Now that is control! The park also had a very neat End of the Trail museum with all kind of Northern California tribal artifacts. For the second part of the day we hiked along the coastal trail. On Sunday we drove home and came back to the sun!
